Facebook revealed this week that they will launch a new technology that will let the users on slow mobile connections to still see their news feed even when they have poor connectivity or when they are not able to connect with Facebook servers. Users will also be able to post comments when they are offline and the comments will appear on the post when the connection becomes active again. Facebook explains that the company wants to bring in these changes to help the developing markets where the primary access to the social networks is based on 2G connections.

The emerging markets will now be able to enjoy the uninterrupted access to Facebook who often feel challenged by slow network connections. Even though it looks like a feature useful only to the developing nations but people in North America too can benefit from it. People in tunnels, airplanes or the ones in the congested networks too will be able to gain access too Facebook when the connection is poor, as per Computer World

News feed is one of the most important sections on your Facebook app, the company has made the fresh news available to the users without depending on the connection speed. Facebook is already testing the update where it will review all the downloaded stories on the phone and then rank them based on relevance to the user. This ranking algorithm will also take into account if there are any images present in the news. The app will then show these new stories which have already been downloaded on your phone but you never scrolled all the way down to read them. By implementing this process, the user experience is said to improve significantly as they will be able to see the posts in their downloaded form, as per Tech Crunch
