Obesity High Amongst Women Adults Compared to Men

American adults are still in the clutches of obesity and the diseases that come with it. Even though there have been numerous awareness campaigns and other efforts to help people watch their weight, women have surpassed men in obesity, says the latest government research. The researchers for the past years have thought that the alarming rise in the obesity has been reduced. But the Center of Disease Control and Prevention said in a report that the rate has not been leveled off but climbed to a whopping 38% in adults from 2013-14, up from 32%, a decade earlier. Dr. William Dietz, expert of Obesity at George Washington University said, "This is a striking finding". He also said that the situation that was thought to be in control is actually worse, reports Yahoo News.

The other authority on the study, Barry Popkin from the University of North Carolina suggests that the participants do not represent the country as a whole and that they have no reasonable explanation as to why the obesity seems to be rising. The report's findings are based on a survey that was conducted in 2013-14 found that the obesity rate amongst women was much higher than the men. For about a decade, the rates had been pretty much the same for both men and women. Obesity is one of the biggest challenges faced by the nation as a whole. The obesity has increased dramatically over the years and has exposed the people to hordes of health concerns, said Philly.

Cynthia Ogden, lead author of the study said that the gap between men and women may have been driven by what is happening between Hispanics and Blacks. While the white men and women obesity rates are close to one another, the black women obesity rates soared to 57% as compared to a 38% rate of the males, as reported by Yahoo News.
