Samsung Galaxy View: An 18-Inch Tablet Replacement For Your Television

Samsung has showcased its massive 18.4-inch tablet Galaxy View which is aimed at video consumers.

According to Engadget, the tablet's screen is capable of full HD resolution and is powered by an octa-core processor running at 1.6 GHz. The tablet comes with 2 GB RAM and with 32GB/64 GB storage options. With its 5,700 mAh battery, the device can provide 8 hours of video playback.

Given the size of the tablet, Samsung clearly intended for the device to blur the line between TV and tablet, opines CNET. View is not portable enough for outdoor use but it can easily be moved between rooms within a home.

Samsung has not paired the device with a stylus. Its price has not been revealed.

"The View's make-or-break will certainly be its price and if Samsung hopes to get this massive slate into families' homes the world over, it'll need a very affordable price tag," CNET wrote.

It remains to be seen if the View can compete with the likes of iPad Pro and Microsoft Surface Pro 4. Extreme Tech reports that the base model at $ 600 would undercut the iPad Pro.
