Growing older and being overweight doesn't have a significant impact on one's happiness according to a recent cross-cultural study looking at quality of life and health status in the US and the UK.

The study conducted by Warwick Medical School at the University of Warwick analyzed lifestyle and health patterns in more than 10,000 people in both countries and their links to pariticipants' mental and physical quality of life and health status. As a result, it was found that mental well-being increases as people age and excess body weight doesn't have a significant impact on their mental wellbeing.
