Looking for Love Online? Universally Attractive Faces Get Less Hits

No luck with online dating? Maybe it's because you're too attractive, according to new research.

Researchers found that having an uglier profile picture may mean more luck when it comes to snagging a partner online.

The latest study conducted by dating site OkCupid found that universally beautiful people tend to get lower scores in terms of attractiveness compared to those with more unique features.

"The people sending these messages are thinking about their own chances," said Hannah Fry of Youtube Channel Head Squeeze, according to the Daily Mail. "[If you're ugly] it means they can have less competition....why bother humiliating themselves?"

Another theory suggests how attractive someone is depends on how they divide opinion, according to a blog on OKCupid.

Researchers explain that women generally get more responses from men as men's perceptions of her became less consistent.

"The less-messaged woman was usually considered consistently attractive, while the more-messaged woman often created variation in male opinion," researchers wrote.
