It's easy to get caught up in the joyful rush of the holiday season, but personal well-being should not be forgotten. Staying happy and healthy during Christmas doesn't have to be complicated. Here are five simple ways to ensure a balanced and enjoyable holiday.

Go outside

Fresh air works wonders. Taking a stroll or spending time in nature can boost mood and reduce stress. Despite all the busy holiday fun, taking a short walk outside can make you feel refreshed. making the festive season more enjoyable.

Establish a sleep schedule

With all the celebrations this season, sleep often takes a backseat. However, maintaining a regular sleep routine is crucial. Aim for seven to eight hours of sleep to rejuvenate and stay energized throughout the day.

Do not overeat

Indulging in holiday treats is part of the fun, but overeating can leave one feeling sluggish. Enjoy the delicacies in moderation, savoring each bite. Being mindful of portions can maintain both joy and health. To avoid overeating during the holidays, one needs to consider the kind of relationship they have with food. If necessary, keep food away from sight, buy only what is needed and prepare snack strategies when watching TV or doing other recreational activities.

Do not drink too much

A glass of wine or two might feel festive, but excessive alcohol can take a toll on health and happiness. Moderation is key - being careful and not drinking too much keeps the happy vibe going without feeling rough the next day.

Connect with yourself

Amid all the excitement, it's easy to forget about oneself. Take moments to reconnect and engage in activities that bring joy -- reading, meditating, or simply enjoying solitude. Psychotherapist Tina Chummun explains that loneliness is actually a disconnection from oneself and recommends acting as one's own therapist.
