When the new year rolls around, we all set goals for ourselves to improve our quality of life. There's never a bad time to change bad habits and truly alter the way that you are living. Getting rid of old, bad habits can be difficult, but there are many other things you can do in order to improve your quality of life in 2020.

1. Get Your Very Own Car

If you don't currently own your own vehicle, it can be difficult to get to work, school and to do everyday shopping. Having your own car will mean more freedom to do what you want, and you'll find that it's easier to get around without relying on friends, family or public transportation.

2. Start an Exercise Program

Getting into an exercise routine doesn't mean suffering through a grueling run every single morning. If you find an exercise you like to do, you'll be more likely to stick with it throughout the year. Also, work your way up when exercising so that it's comfortable and doable.

3. Eat Healthier, More Wholesome Foods

It's not uncommon for most people to eat processed, junk foods simply because they are more readily available. One way to improve your quality of life in 2020 is to cook more at home and eat out a lot less. This might mean swapping your morning drive-thru run for a wholesome breakfast with the kids before the day starts. It might mean avoiding eating out five nights a week and only going out for dinner one day on the weekends.

4. Get Off Social Media

Unfortunately, social media has a way to make many of us feel incredibly isolated. If you're finding that you spend a lot of your time on your phone or tablet throughout the day, take a break from social media and engage with the real world. If it helps, set a specific time during the day when you can be on social media, checking emails or shopping online. At all other times, you must put your phone away and only use it for emergencies.

5. Get Involved with the Community

The 2020 year is a great time to get involved with your local community. This could be as simple as engaging with different activities your current town or city has available to you, or it could mean doing your part to take care of your town's park or recreational area. This can be a fun way to get your kids involved as well, especially when it comes to caring for the environment.

It's easy to make 2020 your year when you truly make changes in your life. These changes can be subtle, yet powerful, and it's important to work to improve upon them every single day. For example, if you'd like to lose weight in 2020 but aren't used to working out or dieting, it might help to make small changes to the way that you move and eat before spending hours in a gym or cutting out thousands of calories each and every week. The year is going to pass by regardless of what you do, so why not make it a great year with these simple, effective changes.
