Alternative Treatments For Erectile Dysfunction

Although people would age, erectile dysfunction can occur for many reasons but there are still plenty of ways to stay in the game. According to research, various alternative or complementary treatments might include such as nutritional supplements, herbal remedies, acupuncture and talk therapy.

Most of these have not been studied as other medications in terms of effectiveness and like nutritional supplements may have side effects based on their ingredients. So if one will consider using an alternative form of treatment for erectile dysfunction it's better to talk to a doctor before getting started.

A study showed that L-arginine and Pycnogenol supplements when used together men have significant improvement in sexual function without any side effects. Flavonoids, according to a ten-year study of more than 25,000 men and those who ate a diet high in flavonoid-rich foods were less likely to have erectile dysfunction. Whether flavonoid supplements did help with erectile dysfunction does not mean it's safe to use but still, it needs be studied.

There seems to be a link between severe zinc deficiency and men who have low testosterone. Through the researcher's knowledge that a zinc supplement increases testosterone serum levels in men, therefore, it could also help with erectile dysfunction problem as well.

There may also be a link between erectile dysfunction and vitamin D deficiency.  A study determined that a lot of men experiencing erectile dysfunction have low levels of vitamin D, especially when caused by injury.

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medicine involves placing very fine needles in various parts of the body to relief pain or stress. Most studies provided no conclusive evidence about the effectiveness s of acupuncture treatment but for some men, it helps in dealing erectile dysfunction.

But for some, erectile dysfunction can be caused by psychological or emotional issues. They need to see a counselor or therapist to teach them ways of reducing the anxiety related to sex. They can invite their partner to talk about new ways to explore intimacy and different techniques to treat physical causes of erectile dysfunction.

Not all nutritional supplements regulated by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) are foods or drugs, but rather dietary supplements. That's why before taking any supplements one should always talk with the doctor to stay safe.

More and more, erectile dysfunction is being viewed as a systemic medical problem. Therefore a number of safe and effective treatments possibilities offered as a practical solution to large number of men and their partners who are suffering erectile dysfunction.
