Smoking is bad for the body and the overall health. There are many side effects that can hurt and even kill your body. It can also harm the lungs and makes smokers difficult to breathe.

Cigarettes contain nicotine, which is highly addicted. Smoking is a practice in which tobacco is burned and inhaled or tasted.  Nicotine is quickly absorbed into the bloodstream that causes many diseases such as heart attacks, erectile dysfunction, and lung cancer.

Chemical called neurotransmitters is released when smoking which regulate behavior and mood. The neurotransmitter transmits an impulse from one nerve cell to another nerve, tissue, organ or muscle. Nicotine triggers the release of dopamine, a neurotransmitter which gives a pleasant feeling.

Signs and symptoms of nicotine addiction may vary according to the individual. An individual want to stop smoking and cannot stop. Smokers experience withdrawal symptoms such as cravings, irritability, anger, and insomnia. Even though smokers already develop smoking related problems but still smoking prevails.

According to study, nicotine addiction will result in death.  These are the following causes of deaths due to smoking lung diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cardiovascular problems, and strokes.

Millions of people have tried to give up smoking and many have succeeded. If only people will give up smoking before they reach 50 years old, smokers can reduce their risk of dying during the next 15 years by 50% compared with people who continue smoking.

Statistics show that about nine out of ten tobacco users started at the younger age, more perhaps 18 years old. Adults who started smoking in teenage days will nearly have a hard time giving up the vice which much easier to not start smoking at all.

The benefits of quitting smoking include heart rate slows down, lung function starts to improve, improvement of circulation, 50 percent chance of getting a heart attack and decreases the risk of having a stroke. After all, a person must understand that smoking is dangerous to your health and can kill. That is why smokers must quit smoking for good.
