AMD has announced that the company is holding a sneak peek for its high-performance Zen CPU in a few weeks. The distant drumbeat sound of a coming CPU war is within every enthusiasts senses. AMD shocked the whole world with the preview of an 8-core Zen, which may keep pace with an 8-core Broadwell-E chip. This clarifies that gaming is very important for AMD.

Soon AMD may show the quad core version of the Zen. PCWorld reported that AMD is coming with four Zen based CPUs at the Submit Ridge family that will launch early next year. The top end CPU may include eight core chips along with Simultaneous Multi-Threading. There might be SR5 with six core and a quad core SR3.

If the rumors are correct, the highest end 8 core will be priced $500. The slower eight-core chip may be priced $350 along with an SR5 priced at $250 and a quad-core SR3 that will cost $150, Technology Market noted. A public demonstration will be given by AMD of its upcoming ZEN CPU on Dec.13 while hosting a live stream event termed as "New Horizon".

The processors gaming capabilities will be shown in this event. Information available on Tech Spot suggested that Geoff Keighley, a well-known video game presenter will host the event. New Horizon is expected to feature e-sports pro-gamer for PPD from Evil Geniuses. The event will focus totally on general gaming public, hence benchmark of Zen might not get detailed specifications. The details will be available at the time of the launch, which is scheduled for Q1 2017.

If the company is able to receive a decent level of performance from Zen when competing with Intel's prices then there are chances of some competition in the CPU space once more. It is speculated that the Zen processor will show a promising performance.
