In 2015 LG introduced its first smartphone featuring the secondary screen feature in its LG V10 handsets. The same technology was incorporated even in its next phone V20. The secondary display sported above the main 5.7-inch screen. However, rumors suggest that the company is changing its sails for its upcoming phone V30 which may not feature the secondary display or the secondary display may not be the same as before.

The secondary display is a small display above the 5.7-inch main display of the LG V10 and V20 phones that served special functionalities as a space to add app shortcuts, time display or notification or alarm ticker without disturbing the main screen. This allowed users to use the full 5.7-inch space of their smartphones on what they want to see onscreen.

Evan Blass' Tweets on LG V30 Leaks

However, tweets from famous leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks) recently said that the unique feature may no longer be available in the upcoming LG V30 smartphone. He tweeted, "I will say this: adieu, ticker."

Following his tweet may news publications reported that the LG V30 makers are going to remove the unique secondary display feature on their upcoming smartphone. In response to these quick reports and speculations around the secondary display of the smartphone, Blass tweeted, "Language is just so important", expressing that news websites have misinterpreted his tweet.

The possible changes to secondary display

So it is not yet known what Blass' former tweet meant. Although LG may not be removing the secondary display feature, it is likely that the notification ticker functionality may be replaced with improved and updated functionalities. The secondary display may serve other purposes than it is presently attending to

An irritating issue faced by users with regard to the secondary display on the V10 and the V20 smartphones is that they often do accidental taps and presses. These rumors also suggest that maybe LG has possibly found a solution to this issue on the V30 model. As the new Android OS updates are already featuring advanced notification features, it is also possible for LG to get rid of the secondary display in V30.

However, there are still miles to go before the LG V30 would reach the hands of its customers in the fall of 2017.
