Ever since 'The Vampire Diaries' star, Ian Somerhalder started dating and later got married to Nikki Reed, the couple have been constantly bombarded with rumors of their divorce. With the recent rumor suggesting Somerhalder replacing Jamie Dornan in 'Fifty Shades,' fans of the actor have been worrying over the gossip that Reed is contemplating a divorce against 'The Vampire Diaries' star.

A number of reasons have been cited for the latest rumor of the couple's divorce. Fans of Somerhalder first of all suspected that Reed would not be able to survive his on-set reunion with Nina Dobrev in 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 8 finale, if it were to happen. And secondly, if rumors of Somerhalder playing Christian Grey in 'Fifty Shades' is true, then the actor would not be able to resist charms of the 'Fifty Shades' franchise lead actress, Dakota Johnson, iTechPost reported.

Suspected infidelity is not only the reported cause of concern for Somerhalder's divorce. There have been reports that the couple are going through a rough patch in their relationship. Speculations suggest that Somerhalder's career has been spiraling down ever since news of his break up with Nina Dobrev. His endorsements and projects reportedly died down after his split with Dobrev as their relationship was what made them so appealing to the public.

Another reason suspected for the couple's alleged divorce is regarding the question of starting a family. Somerhalder is reported to be keen to start a family which Reed keeps pushing it back. It is said that Somerhalder's interest to start a family was what led to his split with Dobrev earlier and the same reason could cause a rift between him and Reed.

However, despite reports about fears and allegations over their divorce, the news seems untrue.  Somerhalder recently revealed that he has been caught in the hectic shooting schedule of 'The Vampire Diaries.' Now that the filming is complete, he is more dedicated to spending more time with Reed and starting a family.
