Fifty Shades Darker star Jamie Dornan simply laughed off rumors about The Vampire Diaries actor Ian Somerhalder replacing him as Christian Grey in the movie trilogy. He was candid about it the whole thing during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday night.

Per IBT, Dornan said he didn't know anything about that. How is that going to be possible when he already shot the remaining two sequels to be released in 2017 and 2018 consecutively. Bringing in Somerhalder to replace him at this time would be an expensive mistake. Nonetheless, he said good luck to him and that he'll be great.

The Fall

Dornan also had to juggle his sched between filming the remaining two sequels of the romance franchise and shooting for the British drama series The Fall. It's on it's third season and has so far gotten positive reviews. He stars with the X-Files' Gillian Anderson. Dornan plays the role of a serial killer who preys on victims in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Anderson is a female detective from London Metropolitan Police who's there to catch him.

There was a time when Anderson kept shooting for four weeks without him after he finished because he had to work on Fifty Shades as published by E!

It turned out Ian Somerhalder was vigorously lobbied for by his adoring fans to play the role of Christian Grey in the original film. Back in June 2013 Somerhalder told Metro that it could be anyone and that you will never get bored of people asking about a big project. He added every guy in Hollywood can be pitted for this role.

On the same month, Somerhalder told Huffington Post that he couldn't have made it anyway. It's hard to do when he's on a TV show that shoots 10 months a year, talking about his CW series that's been airing for the past eight years.

The remaining installments Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed were finished filming in July. They are set for release on February 2017 and February 2018 consecutively.
