Penis Health: 5 Bad Things You're Doing To Your Penis

By George Houston | Update Date: May 10, 2016 06:34 AM EDT

The overall condition of a men's penis at a given time does not always agree with his performance in the bedroom, but in addition on how the organ performs on a day to day basis. As it could reflect on certain bad things that may go beyond the bounds of sex.

Here we give you 5 unhealthy practices that will contribute to the decline in the size and attributes of your penis.

5. The non-existent usage of your penis

Tobias Kohler, MD, an assistant professor of urology at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine stressed-out that the penile erections should be accomplished on a day-to-day basis to maintain the shape of the penis.

"It has to be essentially exercised. If they don't do anything to maintain normal erections, they will get shortening of the penis."

Kohler suggested that the absence of regular penis erections could result in the penile tissue becoming less elastic and will promote a shrinkage of the length of the penis of up to 1-2 centimeters.

For men who don't have an automatic impulse to produce an erection especially if they are cornered in very suggestive circumstances than Kohler advised an alternative: a vacuum pump.

The use of a vacuum pump can force the penis to have a man-made rush of blood as it gets enriched with oxygen that makes it erect.

4. Too Much Masturbation

Masturbation on a regular basis is accepted and healthy but too much "alone time" with yourself can cause your penis to wither into an obvious size.

The cause is mainly owing to a disproportion between testosterone and male hormones because during ejaculation, the body discharges testosterone to counter the orgasm that you experienced.

Doing the act several times per day results in the body unable to stock up on testosterone, giving a rise to a temporary deficiency.

3. Too much Alcohol

Consuming too much alcohol is not only bad for your liver but for your penis's health. A man's ability to get an erection is hindered by drinking high doses of alcohol.

The lack of fluids associated with drinking causes less blood volume and a rise in angiotensin  - the hormone associated with erectile dysfunction.

4. Smoking and Penis Arteries

It is a known fact that smoking cigarettes contributes to the development of atherosclerosis, or the buildup of plaque inside the arteries. Cigarettes clog the heart's arteries, including those that fill the penis with blood during erections. The toxic chemicals in cigarette smoke can damage blood vessels that may lead to erectile dysfunction which can also damage the penile tissues.

5.  Too Much Unhealthy Foods and Obesity

Eating too much unhealthy foods like fast-food and combining it with being overweight has played the biggest role on penis size.

As your body is not receiving the proper balance of nutrients from vegetables and fruits, it may seek nutrients off from parts that your body need them the less.

Add into your daily food intake a proper size of healthy grubs to combat that high amount of bad cholesterol.

Plus, do hit the gym!
