Climate Change Affecting Natural Resources and Wealth

Natural resources of our planet will experience some drastic shifts as the climate changes as the scientists have already started logging the effects of global warming, reports BABW News

According to a report from Newsweek, a recent study says that climate change will lead to paradigm shift in the natural resources and move them towards the planet's poles, which in turn will cause significant shifting of the wealth globally.

The study, published in journal Nature Climate Change, says that as the regions close to the equator become hotter, resources such as trees, plants and fish will move towards north and south, looking for a better environment. The team of researchers led by Eli Fenichel, assistant professor at Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, said in their research findings.

The paper also points out that it will not easy to project the global shift of wealth and natural resources. However, the researchers expect that the money will go where there is fish and farmland, that is towards the poles, as the equatorial temperatures become unbearable. The worst hit, caused by this shift, will be the developing countries as these nations depend on fish and other crops for their livelihood, reports the Marshall Town

The researchers recommend through their study findings that the policy makers should take "inclusive wealth" into account when considering how climate change will impact the economy of the world.

The purpose of the study was to highlight how the effects of climate change will impact the lives of people. Since the changes that will follow global warming are hard to predict, the researchers suggest that there should be closer attention paid to the reallocation of natural resources.

Here is the press release from Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies that details the research with its findings.
