Countryside residents are far more likely to find true love than people living in the city, according to a new study.

The study of 2,000 adults, by the TV channel Really, showed that 77 percent of adults living in rural Britain have found their soulmate, compared with 48 percent in urban areas.

Relationships in the countryside were also found to last twice as long.

In the study, 61 percent of country folks had been in a relationship for more than a decade, compared with just 21 percent of urbanites. Also 55 percent of those living in the sticks were married — 10 percent more than the city.

It was also found that couples living in the countryside spent an average of six nights a week together — two more than those in urban areas.

And 63 percent of country folk reported sexual satisfaction, compared with just 22 percent in the city.

As many as 51 percent living in the country say, "I love you" at least once a day, compared with only 23 percent in the city.

Only 10 percent of country folk had cheated on their partner, compared with 20 percent in cities.

The average cost of a date in the countryside was found to be £31 — while this went up to 65 percent for those in cities.

A total of 34 percent of city dwellers said having money was an important characteristic in a partner, while only 11 percent of those in rural areas felt the same.
