Are you totally happy with your health and fitness? Do you have a vision for yourself that includes a healthier you? Let's look at how to take charge and achieve optimal health.

Set Your Own Rules

Be the boss of your destiny and set your own rules. Instead of relying on a fad diet or trendy recommendation, you're likely to feel more motivated when you make up your own rules.

Since you are in charge, why not pick the things that have an impact. Take charge and create your optimal state of health. Now is a great time to use these simple tips to get a jump on a healthier you.

Support Your Skin Health

We do love to look gorgeous, and that's why so many women choose to invest in skin health. But why is zinc so important to health?

Many research studies indicate that zinc can promote skin health. A simple way to invest in your great looks is to buy zinc. This single action can be one of your most powerful choices in achieving your goals.

Eat Less Meat

What happens when you eat less meat? You'll make a big investment in your health. If your heart, lungs, liver, and blood vessels could speak directly, they would say a big, "Thank You!"

Eating less meat is not only good for your body, mind, and mood-it also helps the planet. It's not difficult to eat less beef, lamb, or pork. However, if you are a meat-lover, don't despair.

Start small. Pick one dinner a week such as meatless Monday. Once you see that it isn't so difficult, expand your sights.

Eat More Vegetables

Have a blast with adding more vegetables to your menus and recipes. One of the best ways to do this is, to begin with, the end in mind. Use these simple tricks to pile on the vegetables in creative and fun ways.

Aim for having half your plate devoted to vegetables. Beans, asparagus, broccoli, and carrots are easy choices. Mix up roots, leaves, and stalks. Choose one of each for a healthy meal. Leafy vegetables include lettuce, kale, and chard.

Root vegetables are heartier such as carrots, beets, turnips, and rutabagas. Stalks can include broccoli, asparagus, and celery. You can even use them to make delicious, homemade vegetable soups. Try simple recipes such as carrot and ginger soup.

Get inspired by browsing your favorite menus, cooking shows, and blogs. Soups are very forgiving. You can create a simple soup with what's on hand in your cupboard. You can make a comforting bowl of vegetable soup even if you're new to cooking.

Eat More Fruits

This one is fun! Eat more fresh fruits. Pile on the ones that are especially low sugar and high fiber such as apples and pears. Study your fruit charts so that you can spot the ones that give you the most nutrition for the fewest calories.

Current favorites will include apples, pears, strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. If you can't find these fresh in your grocery, check out the frozen section. Most grocers carry frozen berries without any added sugar. This will help you cruise through the winter with a fruit-rich selection.

Choose Less Sugar

For many women, this is the trickiest tip of all. Because, let's face it, we all have our favorite sugar source. Is it pouring sugar spoons into your tea or coffee? Is it downing sugary sodas? Is it favoring sugar syrups for coffee drinks or alcoholic concoctions?

Some of our favorite sugar sources are a little less obvious than others. Sugar is a significant ingredient in sauces such as BarBQ sauce, salad dressings, and marinades. It may be lurking in your favorite morning pastry or afternoon pick-up cookie.

One of the big benefits of reducing sugar shows where you see it: on your face. You are likely to notice that your skin looks better. This will inspire you to be vigilant about sugar. When you turn into a sugar sleuth, you'll spot new ways to slash sugar.

Don't be overly ambitious and cut it all at once. Going cold turkey on sugar can trigger bad moods and emotional outbursts. Take it gradually. Pick one sugar source you can live without. Do without this one thing for a week, before adding in your next item.

By supporting your skin, eating healthy, and making smart choices, you can focus all your attention on what matters most. You can get a jump on a healthier you. You can enjoy all the benefits of being a healthier you-and keep on looking gorgeous.
