"Criminal Minds" Season 13 is yet to get an extension. Recently, CBS confirmed renewal for several of its regular series. Fans are hoping that if Thomas Gibson returns to the show, the network might think of renewing it.

'Criminal Minds' Season 13 Yet To Get Extension

Fans are urgently waiting for the BAU team to get an extension on television. Unfortunately, the first list of renewals does not have the name of "Criminal Minds" in it. But viewers have not given up hope because it is one show that has done several good things in the last season such as breaking its regular format, reports CarterMatt.

However, the series also faced several challenges during season 12, such as saying good-bye to its big star Thomas Gibson and the introduction of new cast members. That is why the ratings of the series dropped considerably, making a "Criminal Minds" Season 13 extension difficult.

CBS And ABC Studios Yet To Make A Deal

The source believes that it is not the ratings that have delayed the extension. It is because certain negotiations between ABC Studios and CBS are to take place before the network can finally confirm "Criminal Minds" Season 13. The series comes from ABC Studios, hence CBS has to follow a different protocol while confirming anything related to the BAU series.

According to Deadline, since "Criminal Minds" is a long running series, it often misses early pickup from CBS. The network always haggles with ABC Studios over costs and other deals.

Fans are hoping that once everything is sorted out between CBS and ABC Studios, the network will announce "Criminal Minds" Season 13. Most probably, the return of Thomas Gibson will give more advantage to the series. But neither CBS nor the production team has confirmed they are interested in bringing him back, after kicking him out in "Criminal Minds" Season 12.
