There are only a few details that have been made known about this year's "Wonder Woman", especially since the roles of most of the cast are still unconfirmed. One of the most talked-about mysteries is the casting of Ares, the DC character who is set to be the major villain in the Gal Gadot flick. So who will play the God of War in the DC Extended Universe movie? There are speculations that the immortal baddie will be portrayed by a "Harry Potter" alum who has long been confirmed for the Patty Jenkins film.

Fans have long speculated on the possibility that Ares will appear as the major villain in "Wonder Woman". After all, the God of War is the closest thing that Diana Prince would have to an archenemy. Most believe "American Horror Story" alum Danny Huston will play some sort of human incarnation of Ares in the DCEU flick. However, new details may have confirmed that David Thewlis, who played Remus Lupin in the "Harry Potter" films, is the true actor who will portray the DC baddie in the Gal Gadot movie.

The update comes from Batman-News, who claim that several sources have confirmed that David Thewlis will appear as Ares in "Wonder Woman". The appearance of the "Harry Potter" actor will reportedly feature some CGI effects and possibly some prosthetics as well. This certainly sounds like the Gal Gadot flick has been trying to mislead fans with the trailers that clearly show Danny Huston as the villain. There is a possibility that Huston's character might be influenced by Ares in the DCEU film.

David Thewlis was one of the first actors to be confirmed for "Wonder Woman" although his character was not revealed. Warner Bros. might be keeping the truth about the "Harry Potter" star's role in the DCEU flick. In the meantime, it is important to state that the update is not official and must be taken with a grain of salt. "Wonder Woman" will premiere on June 2.
