NBA Trade 2017 Latest News & Update: Carmelo Anthony Waiving No-Trade Clause To Join Boston

Any NBA trade involving Carmelo Anthony has yet to gain any ground with the Los Angeles Clippers at the top of the list. The Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers have shown no interest in the 35-year-old forward though the former could still be part of a future deal.

The Celtics would have gotten a gem of a scorer in Carmelo Anthony had president Danny Ainge agreed to a trade. The Knicks are reportedly interested in some Celtic players for the all-star forward, though no names were divulged. Brad Stevens would have loved to handle Melo but Ainge seems to be prioritizing the defensive side of the team. Apparently, the Celtics are doing well on offense with defense their main problem, according to the Boston Globe.

With the Celtics out, the Clippers are the only one closest as of this writing. Jamal Crawford and Austin Rivers were mentioned as possibly included in the deal. But with the injury of Chris Paul, the Clips have reportedly backtracked on the idea knowing they would end up short on guards to quarterback the ballclub.

The best case scenario right now is for the Celtics to participate in a three-way trade. Thanks to the high salary of Anthony, a straight deal between the Knicks and the Clippers may not be logical, CBS reported. The Celtics could deal some of their less-used players, not to mention fee up some cap space. Under any circumstance, Anthony is not likely to end in Bean Town.

There are several teams who could be in play for Carmelo Anthony. The Oklahoma City Thunder are reportedly weighing their options, apprehensive since it may disrupt the fine season of Russell Westbrook. If nothing materializes, Anthony could be dealt with teams unlikely to make the playoffs. That includes the Brooklyn Nets and the Philadelphia 76ers who could deal their big men for the high-scoring forward.
