The highly anticipated "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" is finally arriving in March, but along with the news of its arrival is that Nintendo Wii U bids goodbye the the upcoming game. The action-adventure video game will be the last first-party title arriving to the console, as confirmed by Nintendo. The company also confirmed that they have arrived at the final life stages of the Wii U.

The news was reported by Polygon, who spoke with Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. He confirmed that there will be no development following the launch of the highly anticipated "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild." From a development standpoint, the move is understandable, especially with the arrival of the Nintendo Switch, to which the company is most likely allocating its resources.

According to Engadget, there was a low number of widely popular and high quality games that Nintendo was able to ship out for the Wii U. Of course, "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" is expected to be one of them, but "Super Mario 3D World," "Mario Kart 8," and "Splatoon" were also a few that found success. Fans need not worry, however, as Nintendo will continue to sell existing Wii U games, as well as provide server support for multiplayer games such as "Super Smash Bros."

For "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" fans who are wondering if there will be a difference between playing the game on the Wii U and the Nintendo Switch, the answer is no. Eurogamer spoke with Nintendo designer Eiji Aonuma, who explained that "from a gameplay perspective, it is the same experience on both platforms," which is why gamers need not worry. Of course, the loading times on the Nintendo Switch will definitely be faster because it loads from a Game Card.
