It seems like "Green Lantern Corps" just came out of nowhere and now has an official release date. With no concrete information just yet, many have been speculating as to who will play the role of John Stewart. "The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story" actor, Sterling K. Brown, wanted to help out in finding the perfect fit to play the protagonist by volunteering himself.

Sterling K. Brown, best known for his portrayal as Christopher Darden in the FX true crime anthology television series, took to Twitter to show his interest in playing the "Green Lantern Corps" protagonist, John Stewart. The social media world seems to agree with the 40-year-old actor as his post garnered over 3,000 hearts and has been retweeted more than 1,000 times.

"Dear powers that be, if you are looking for someone to play John Stewart, I humbly submit my name," Sterling K. Brown wrote. The actor then added "Namaste" and the hashtag "#GreenLanternCorps" to make sure that everyone would get what he meant.

While Sterling K. Brown wants so bad to be a part of "Green Lantern Corps," Cinemablend reported that Duncan Jones is busy criticizing the Warner Bros. and DC Comics movie. The "Warcraft director shared his frustration in a series of tweets. Jones felt the need to talk about his issues regarding the Green Lantern ring and even went as far as calling Green Lantern "dumb."

Although the cast for "Green Lantern Corps" still remains a mystery, Warner Bros. and DC Comics have already hired a writing team to start the script for the upcoming film. David Goyer (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) and Justin Rhodes (Contract Killer) are collaborating in the writing process. With the disappointing result of the 2011 "Green Lantern" film, many are hoping that this new one will be more successful. "Green Lantern Corps" is set for release on July 24, 2020.
