Miley Cyrus will return to her acting roots with an upcoming role in the sequel to the hit Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. Check out the latest updates on "Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2."

Director James Gunn and Marvel CEO Kevin Feige attended the recent press event last week in Los Angeles, California. They revealed the star-studded cameo appearance on "Guardians Of The Galaxy 2," including Miley Cyrus as Mainframe.

Gunn and Feige initially left everyone guessing on who might play the role of Mainframe in the second film. According to the duo, they only told one person about it. Gunn jokingly added that it's his fault that the news came out.

Miley Cyrus Joins "Guardians Of The Galaxy" Sequel

During the said event, blogger Sarah Ruhlman shared a fun fact on Twitter. She confirmed that Miley Cyrus will be part of the movie. The "Bangerz" hitmaker is set to lend her voice to the Mainframe character.

In an interview with Buzzfeed News, Gunn revealed that he admired Cyrus for her voice work on the reality series "The Voice." It was her "funny, likable and sweet" persona towards the contestants that caught his attention.

Gunn also talked about the idea of extending Miley Cyrus and her part in the future installments. "She knows that there's a chance that character may go on and become a bigger thing,' Gunn said. 'That's a possibility."

Who Is Mainframe?

Den Of Geek reported on the background of Cyrus' role. Created by Jim Valentino, Mainframe first appeared on the "Guardians Of The Galaxy" #5 in 1990. Vision made an alternative universe of himself in order to help the Guardians of the Galaxy.

The character from the 31st century is actually an android who operated on an entire planet. His role is actually to protect Captain America's shield. Aside from this, Mainframe led the team's sub-team, the Galactic Guardians.
