Selena Gomez who executive produced the hit series in Netflix 13 Reasons Why got a matching tattoo with some of the show's cast. Their recognition of mental health continues as they chose a semi-colon design for the tattoo that symbolizes mental health awareness.

The Netflix 13 Reasons Why bravely and poignantly tackled a teenage girl's suicide and the many issues plaguing today's youth from sexual assault, gender confusion, bullying, violence and drug use. The show also heartbreakingly expressed the pain felt by the people left behind.

Mostly told through Clay's eyes from Hannah's perspective, viewers get to see the 13 reasons why she decided to end her life with the tapes she left behind. The show received rave reviews and is successful in opening up the topic of mental health for people to openly talk about.

After holding on the rights of Jay Asher's novel where the series is based from, Selena Gomez, along with her mother Mandy Teefy and creator Brian Yorkey finally brought the story to life after seven years. Now, the story will live with the singer forever along with stars Alisha Boe and Tommy Dorfman as she etched on her skin a mark to commemorate it as per E! Online.

Their tattoo, a semicolon, is known for a global movement to support those who are struggling with mental illness, addiction, self-injury, suicide and suicide ideation. As a symbol for a continuance, the semicolon shows the choice to continue.

Selena Vocal on Her Mental Health State

The It Ain't Me singer has always been vocal about the state of her mental health. It can be recalled how the singer canceled the rest of her Revival world tour to check herself in a psychiatric facility in Tennessee as she told Vogue.com.

Selena admits how she felt like her self-esteem was shot and that she is not "good enough" and "capable." She suffered depression, anxiety, and even panic attacks before or after her shows.

She knew she had to give herself a break from the radar and decided to leave for a while. And when she disconnected, she detached herself from everything that even her phone was surrendered during her stay in the facility.

After the treatment, Selena Gomez has never been better as she continues her therapies and spreads awareness of the importance of prioritizing mental health. The success of the Netflix 13 Reasons Why series is only proof how the 24-year-old artist has achieved the goal of her passion project.
