Reversing Aging Now Possible in Animals via New Drug [VIDEO]

Reversing aging has been successfully trialed in a new experiment conducted on a laboratory mouse. The experiment managed to restore the old mice's stamina, several organ functions and even promoted the regrowth of fur.

The latest study performed at the Erasmus University Medical Center, in Netherland is looking into human trials with the hopes of creating a treatment for old age. The unnamed drug was used to reset blood proteins in the system of the test subjects to be able to slow down and reverse the aging process. Results of the initial experiment conducted on laboratory mice were so impossible to dismiss and is a one of a kind breakthrough in the medical field.

The experiment was conducted on laboratory mice. Test samples were divided into there - mice with an equivalent age of 90 in mouse years, mice that were programmed to age rapidly and mice who aged due to chemotherapy. To proceed with the experiment, the team flushed out the retired or senescent cells in the body of the mice.

Senescent cells are cells that have stopped dividing and have released chemicals that cause inflammation. This certain type of inflammation is linked to aging. In all test groups, the mice's liver function was easily restored and the animals managed to double the distance they can run in a wheel, the BBC revealed.

Reversing aging was also physically evident with the test mice. Hair regrowth was not initially part of the experiment.

However, the results were too significant to be missed, researchers further explained. The unnamed drug is given thrice a week to the test groups and has been taking place for almost a year. As for side-effects, no significant changes in the normal tissues of the subjects were evident, The Guardian reported.

Further studies and experiments on the drug will be conducted to be able to address specific age related diseases, besides reversing aging in human clinical trials. The result of the experiment also indicates the possibility of creating new life-extending treatments that will help prolong the lifespan of man.
