'Poldark' Star Aidan Turner Gets 'Rare' Honor; Producers Commissioned For New Show, 'Desire'

Another feather is now added to "Poldark" star Aidan Turner's cap. A blue colored plaque was given recently give to the star. The honor is rare and is usually awarded to people who have passed away.

This plaque was erected on the wall of a resort called Gwel an Mor, which is situated near Porthreat in memory of Turner's stay, while he was shooting "Poldark" Season 2. Ideally, this blue plaque only gets erected in memory of a person who passed away two decades ago.

Although fans of the handsome actor need not worry at all, as their hero is healthy and busy with shooting. The erection of the plaque actually served a dual purpose; to pay tribute to the star and to act as a publicity stunt carried out by the management of the Gwel an Mor Five Star Resort.

Aidan Turner did stay at this resort. Steve Hagan, the marketing manager for this luxury property said, "We just thought it was a bit of fun. It seems to get a fair bit of attention, though." The fan-favorite Irish star was spotted with "Poldark" colleague Eleanor Tomlinson, who plays the character of Demelza, Turner's on-screen wife. The duo emjoyed a quiet dinner in each other's company last Sept. It was at that time that the pair's picture was posted at Gwel an Mor in Portreath.

Both of them appeared to have an excellent time together. The stars were all smiles as they raised their wine glasses. The good news for "Poldark" fans is that the popular saga was also aired in Denmark and Holland.

Incidentally, both these nations have become extremely fond of Cornwall as their preferred holiday destination, Cornwall Live wrote. There is no doubt that the success of the series will see fans from all over the world visiting Cornwall to get a real taste of the place.

For the people of Cornwall, it definitely means extra revenue from tourism. The Chief Executive of the Visit Cornwall initiative, Malcolm Bell said that he has big hopes that the show's broadcast will enable to showcase his country's beauty to the young travelers. Bell added, "It is really good news for tourism in Cornwall."

In other news, Radio Times reported that ITV has recently commissioned a new drama titled "Desire" to Mammoth Screen, producers of "Poldark." The new series will be about a tragic love affair.
