For the third year in a row, a Manny Pacquiao vs. Amir Khan fight is in the works. And this time it looks like the bout will finally transpire following the tweets of both boxers. Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan were known to be in talks for a possible fight despite most being told that Australian Jeff Horn was in the running to face the Filipino boxing icon in April.

Even with Jeff Horn in the mix, not too many were keen to see Manny Pacquiao face a relatively unknown. The 29-year-old Australian does have an impressive record, but most are aware that star power matters when you face someone like Pacquiao. Revenue generation is equally important and Khan is obviously a better choice.

Khan is up there though probably not yet at the level of Manny Pacquiao or even Floyd Mayweather Jr. The Bolton fighter will disagree, but he needs to churn out an impressive fight and hopefully win to boost his stock. All that could happen on April 23, the date of the supposed super fight between the two southpaws, ESPN reported. Khan has been trying to get a fight done with Pacquiao. His first try came in 2015 before Mayweather practically shunned that from happening.

Amir Khan was also in the running in 2016 as Pacquiao’s final foe. He was put beside Terrence Crawford and Timothy Bradley Jr., with the latter ending up the logical choice due to financial leverage. The British boxer eventually faced Canelo Alvarez and lost via KO in the sixth round on May 8, BBC reported. While that loss was something most had expected, it proved the Pacquiao camp’s claim on the Bolton fighters’ suspect glass chin.

Heading into the April 23 match with Manny Pacquiao, expect Khan to turn away allegations of his chin. An advantage he holds is that he has fought the Filipino in the past when they were sparring partners under the watch of Freddie Roach. With familiarity on his side, Khan may need more than that to pull off a stirring win over the eight-time division champion.
