NBA Latest News & Update: Isaiah Thomas Sees Long Road To Greatness, Kobe Bryant Footsteps Far Off

Isaiah Thomas of the Boston Celtics has been shining but knows that he has a long road ahead to be among the list of NBA greats. That includes recently retired Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant, someone that Thomas apparently looks up to.

Thomas drew attention when the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers met recently. He was instrumental in the win, unloading 38 points en route to a 113-107 shellacking of their rivals. 17 of those team-high 38 points came in the fourth quarter, calling to mind how Bryant would take over and take on the scoring brunt. For Thomas, being compared to the “Black Mamba” is something though he knows he has a long way to go, ESPN reported.

Thomas resurgence is something and his efforts may eventually pan out. Aside from the 27-year-old guard, the Celtics do have the manpower to go up against the big guns of the Eastern Conference. The Celtics visit the Lakers on Mar. 3, another opportunity for Thomas to show that his 38-point explosion at the TD Garden was no fluke, Lakers Nation reported.

The mileage of Isaiah Thomas has gone as far as to reach a former Celtic, Paul Pierce. The future NBA Hall of Famer played his final game at the TD Garden Sunday. The visiting Los Angeles Clippers did bow to the Celtics (107-102) but the game was more about the ‘passing of the torch’ to by Pierce to Thomas.

Prior to the match, both had dinner at the Strip by Strega, CSN NE reported. It was the first time that Thomas had an extensive talk with the 10-time all-star, tackling things like the city and championships. It was a surreal moment for Thomas, something he admits he will cherish and take with him forever. At the rate he is going, it wouldn’t be surprising if both go out again and talk about something even bigger - an NBA title.
