Apple is expected to come up with something big this March, a traditional time when the Cupertino company unloads an array of new devices for the consumer electronics market. One device which is speculated to debut is the iPad Mini 5 which may officially be adopted into the iPad Pro family.

Apple is believed to be integrating its vast array of tablets under one wing and the iPad Pro segment is seen as such. The Cupertino company did debut a couple of new tablets under the line which included the 12.9-inch iPad Pro in 2015 followed up by the iPad Pro 9.7-inch in March of last year. While there is growing belief that iPad Mini line may be phased out, the understanding is that it will only be the brand that will depart but not the actual iPad Mini 5, JBH News reported.

If so, this hints that the iPad Mini 5 may come out, but will now be known as the iPad Mini Pro. With the believed phase out of the iPad Mini 5, the tactic is seen to streamline the redundant product lines which technically offer similar features. That said, the difference may eventually differ in screen sizes but not in the internal features the iPad Mini Pro would bring.

Among the leading features, the iPad Mini 5/ iPad Mini Pro will have to offer to include the advanced biometric security features out today. That includes a fingerprint sensor similar to the bigger iPad Pro tablets and a True Tone display for better rendering of graphics and images on the display screen.

For most, a 7.9-inch variant of the iPad Pro is expected as the iPad Mini 5. However, the latest report from Apple Insider begs to differ. With the Cupertino company seen to be focusing on large form factors, three new iPads are indeed expected this Spring but with no mini version expected. Could the smallest of the lot eventually serve as the successor of the iPad Mini 5 instead?
