The most dreaded event in "Vikings" Season 4 has finally happened: Ragnar Lothbrok is dead, after being surrendered by King Ecbert to King Aelle in "All His Angels". However, it looks like the death of the legendary farmer-turned-ruler is set to bring about more bloodshed in "Crossings". Lagertha, as the new Queen of Kattegat, could declare war and bring Ragnar's sons to battle in "Vikings" Season 4 Episode 16.

The death of Ragnar Lothbrok has long been hinted on in "Vikings" Season 4. After all, the season opened with Ragnar dreaming of finding Valhalla, only to have the gates close before he could enter. Fans were already expecting the former King of Kattegat to meet his end soon but this also means big things will happen in "Vikings" Season 4 Episode 16, especially when the news reaches his ex-wife Lagertha.

In "Vikings" Season 4 Episode 15, Ivar the Boneless made it home to Kattegat and was quick to report to his brothers about Ragnar Lothbrok's death. Unfortunately, Sigurd and Ubbe also had bad news: their mother Aslaug has been killed by Lagertha, who now rules Kattegat. Could the furious Ivar seek vengeance for Aslaug in "Vikings" Season 4 Episode 16? It looks like this will happen, but there are more important things to deal with in "Crossings".

The new promo for "Crossings" hints on Lagertha leading a huge battle alongside Ragnar Lothbrok's sons, and it is possible that the Great Heathen Army is set to attack Wessex. The ad also shows Aethelwulf in the battlefield, confirming that the prince will once again need to defend King Ecbert from the Northmen in "Vikings" Season 4 Episode 16.

Will Ivar the Boneless secretly plot against Aslaug's killer in "Crossings"? Could Lagertha lead Ragnar Lothbrok's sons to battle in Wessex? How will Rollo, Bjorn and Floki react to Ragnar's death? "Vikings" Season 4 Episode 16 airs on History on January 4. Make sure to share your views and thoughts on the bloody episode in the comments below.
