Resident Evil 7's 'Beginning Hour' demo hints at a returning character by data miners. Reddit users have revealed that the resulting names give us a hint of the return of a familiar character.

Capcom's Resident Evil 7 is the latest installment to their popular survival horror franchise. The game will be released on January 24, 2017, on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Reddit users have been data mining the 'Beginning Hour' demo and some named have appeared. One of the names that have been revealed from the data mining is Albert (Wesker).

Albert Wesker is one of the central characters in the Resident Evil franchise. In the original Resident Evil game, he was the captain of the Alpha team of the Special Tactics and Rescue Service (STARS), albeit a non-playable character.

Eventually, it is revealed that he is a double agent who works for Umbrella Corporation (the company behind the monster mutations). Wesker most recently returned in Resident Evil 5 as the main antagonist.

The NeoGAF user "Jawmuncher" has found the following names in his datamining expedition: HandGun_Albert_Reward / WeaponHandgunAlbertAppend / Shotgun_Albert / LastBossGetAlbert / LastBossFinishGetGun / AlbertWeapon / AlbertInteract / AlbertGet / isDamagedByAlbert / AlbertDamageCount. The data entry "LastBossGetAlbert" is particularly interesting as it suggests who his role would be in the video game.

Additionally, some data miners have also uncovered another Wesker in the name, Eveline Wesker. There is a command in the game's code that the two characters will be wielding handguns together.

Elsewhere, data miners were also able to uncover multiple endings for the game. Resident Evil 7 may possibly have "bad" and "true" endings depending on the actions that players choose for their character.

The data files retrieved from the demo could be ruled or they may be deceptively planted to keep the fans guessing. Whether or not Albert Wesker returns to the video game and what his role is, still remains to be seen during the game's official release.
