The medical marijuana law in Ohio has already taken effect and it plans to go fully operational in September 2018. Medical marijuana is already legal in Ohio and the fees involved for the licensing may be higher than the program cost.

The state regulators already confirmed that the medical marijuana license in Ohio has certain fees. The program cost is estimated to be $2.5 million each year. This is the cost proposed for operations, according to the U.S. News.

This said program cost will include the setting up of the licensing, payment systems and product tracking. The program also is entitled to establish a toll-free hotline. If the state provides the medical license in Ohio to those available, that would mean the state will generate an amount of up to $10.8 million.

This amount generated would be taken from the available licenses that are given to 24 cultivators, 60 dispensaries, and 40 product processors. The fees for the medical marijuana license in Ohio have also been made non-refundable. All these essentials can already come up with the amount that is way higher than the current program cost.

The medical marijuana license in Ohio includes 21 medical conditions. These include Alzheimer's disease, cancer, AIDS, and epilepsy. These conditions are allowed to get the prescription from doctors for medical marijuana. However, the law does not allow smoking marijuana.

Meanwhile, there are several advisers that are pushing back because the fees may be too high for the people as reported by the FOX 8 Cleveland. The fees for the license of medical marijuana have been set high in Ohio.

The application fee would cost $20,000 and $180,000 license fee for larger growers. For the smaller growers, however, the license fee would cost $18,000 and $2,000 for the application fee. These amounts may be reduced along the way as the program gets fully operational.
