There's only a few weeks left before Hugh Jackman's final bow as Wolverine hits theaters with the highly anticipate "Logan." The upcoming James Mangold-directed film was recently revealed to be from a different universe than the previous "X-Men" and "Wolverine" films, and Jackman was quick to explain that the story deviates from the past Marvel films he's done. The latest news surrounding "Logan" is that it has received its rating.

According to IGN, there are couple of details in the upcoming film that warrant an R-rating. In fact, Mangold took to Twitter to brieflty explain the rating to fans and viewers who cannot wait for the March 2 release. In a tweet, Mangold explained that the film has several violent scenes as well as "brief nudity," which is why the upcoming Hugh Jackman film is the first R-rated "Wolverine" movie.

Fun fact, "Logan" is only the second film in Fox's "X-Men" franchise to have an R-rating next to "Deadpool." Speaking of "Deadpool," Ryan Reynolds, who has been campaigning for a "Deadpool"-"Wolverine" collaboration, has high hopes for the film, going on to claim that the film could earn an Oscar nomination this year.

It seems there's a lot more behind how "Logan" came to be, as The Verge reported that Jackman even received a pay cut just to make sure the movie would achieve an R-rated status. The move is unsurprising, as last year's "Deadpool," which also received an R-rating, was one of the biggest movies in terms of revenue. It's a given that Fox would want to duplicate that success with this upcoming endeavor, which is why the upcoming Hugh Jackman film is the first R-rated "Wolverine" movie.

"Logan" brings back Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart to reprise their roles of Wolverine and Professor X, respectively. Dafne Keen also stars as X23. Fans must go to theaters on March 2 to find out why the upcoming Hugh Jackman film is the first R-rated "Wolverine" movie.
