"Yuri On Ice" has become an instant obsession of viewers who loves anime and viewers who loves fresh concept like this one. What makes the Japanese sports anime television series more interesting is its connection to reality. Everything in "Yuri On Ice" is so real even the location is an existing place in Japan!

The "Yuri On Ice" co-creator has visited the place and even left some souvenirs for fans to check out when they get the chance to go there. Aside from Yuri Katsuki being based on two real-life Japanese figure skaters, Yuzuru Hanyu and Tatsuki Machida, his idol Victor Nikiforov was also based on a real-life Russian Figure skater, Evgeni Plushenko.

As if those real-life connections are not enough, the "Yuri On Ice" protagonist's hometown Hasetsu is not just a made-up place, but it was actually based on a real-life city of Karatsu in Saga Prefecture on the island of Kyushu, Japan. Travelers Today reported that the real-life version of Yuri Katsuki's hometown has become a tourist destination after the success of "Yuri On Ice."

Akinori Kawakami, representative of Karatsu Michelin Steak Restaurant Caravan and and the president of the "Association to Connect Hasetsu and Karatsu" apparently invited "Yuri On Ice" co-creator Mitsuro Kubo to visit the place. Kiss Anime revealed that Mitsuro Kubo left some of her signed original illustrations of Yuri Katsuki, Victor Nikiforov, and Yuri Plisetsky (better known as Yurio) to the Caravan, which will give "Yuri On Ice" fans more reason to check out the now popular place.

With the show's mega-success, it just seems right for "Yuri On Ice" to have a sequel. Mitsuro Kubo has previously hinted the possibility of "Yuri On Ice" Season 2. Although there's a high chance for a sequel, there is still no word on the "Yuri On Ice" Season 2 release date yet.
