NBA Trade Latest News & Update: Brandon Knight Sweepstakes Are Up, Move Expected Soon

Brandon Knight is one of the big names that could be moving this February though the Phoenix Suns haven’t found the suited dance partner just yet. There is still time to negotiate and many believe the talented guard could be changing zip codes soon.

Despite his best efforts, Knight has found himself as the odd-man out of the Suns' rotation. One thing that may be delaying his move is the hefty contract he brings. Knight signed a five-year $70 million deal in 2015 and such could be too much for other teams to take in. A trade could be made but such may involve multiple players (plus picks) or a conduit team to materialize.

There are several teams who could make use of Brandon Knight such as the Sacramento Kings, Atlanta Hawks, Chicago Bulls, Orlando Magic, New Orleans Pelicans and the Dallas Mavericks, CBS reported. Looking at those team rosters, a star guard is needed badly. Brandon Knight saw his numbers dip since he had to share time with Eric Bledsoe and Devin Booker.

But of the three, some are puzzled why Knight would be the one traded off instead of the other two, Real GM reported. The answer to that is the starting point guard chores which may be unfair to weigh in at this point following the playing time adjustments. Also, the current rotation of the Phoenix Suns may speak for itself. The team is sharing the cellar of the Western Conference with the Mavericks, meaning something has to be done soon.

The Suns may be looking for a wing scorer or a banger in exchange though no names have been mentioned as of this writing. Brandon Knight joins an elite list that includes Nerlens Noel, DeMarcus Cousins, Jahlil Okafor, Ricky Rubio and Rudy Gay as possible movers on or before February. If nothing goes down, expect all that to carry on in the wild 2017 NBA offseason where more marquee free agent names will be looking for better deals.
