Acclaimed British pop star, Ed Sheeran got accidentally sliced on his face by Princess Beatrice during a party at the Royal Lodge in Windsor, England.

According to The Telegraph, trouble started when singer-songwriter, James Blunt jokingly said that he wished to be knighted. In response to Blunt's request, Princess Beatrice, 28, called for the ceremonial sword while Blunt knelt down in a mock knighting ceremony. When she lifted the sword up to tap him on his shoulder, she accidentally swung it back, cutting Sheeran on the cheek.

A source told Us Weekly that Princess Beatrice was mortified at the incident. She genuinely thought that she had disfigured Sheeran's face and she was screaming and gasping looking at the blood run down the singer's face.

Sheeran, however, was reportedly calm as told by the source to Us. The singer told everyone that it was fine and not to worry. He was in fact chuckling as he went off to get it seen to according to the source. He left the party to get stitches and after the hospital visit, the singer returned back to the party. The source added that no one could believe it when he came back. He was able to perform at a concert in London the following evening, The Telegraph reported.

Fellow singer-songwriter, Andy Patterson posted a pic on Twitter on Nov. 19, which shows Sheeran's wound. "Tonight I met the only person in the world who love [singer] Foy Vance more than me. @edsheeran I'll let you claim this one," read the caption on the image by Patterson.

Princess Beatrice of York is the elder daughter of Prince Andrew. Prince Andrew is the third child of Queen Elizabeth II.
