NBA Trade Rumors: Will Sacramento Kings Finally Trade DeMarcus Cousins To See A Change In Fortunes?

Is the rumor of the Sacramento Kings trading DeMarcus Cousins finally going to be true before the end of 2016? After hearing it for years which made it quite an unexciting news of late, a Sporting News report has said that "Boogie" could finally move out of the Kings in the first week of December. At least the executives of the league think so.

One Western Conference official told Sporting News on the condition of anonymity that the Kings have three months but actually it could be just one or one-and-a-half month for trading him near the deadline would make it tough.

The rumor has found a more solid footing in Kings' minority owner Shaquille O'Neal's words on TNT's "Inside the NBA" last week. He said Cousins hasn't shown the leadership qualities he was expected to and as per the "hearing", things could go in a different "direction" if they did not fall in place soon.

Having an ordinary run with four wins and seven losses in the Western Conference this season and currently placed tenth, the Kings are eagerly looking to improve their records. Though their performance last year was a notch better than what it was till the year before, the Kings want to raise the bar this time under the new coach - Dave Joerger. They have five consecutive home games starting November 16 till Thanksgiving and if things don't go to their favor in this phase, then the call on Cousins might not be far off.

According to CBSSports's Matt Moore, the "vultures are gathering". He said the more the idea is discussed, the more the chances of Cousins's price going south. He said even if the Western Conference executives have no vested interest in discussing these issues, just a chaos in another Western Conference opponent is good enough in terms of the competition.

"At the same time, it's important to note that we are entering Panic Trade Season. And there's been a consistent flow of reports and rumors about the Kings finally loosening on their "Never Trade Cousins" approach. They opened the new arena, the team is still terrible, Cousins is still Cousins for better or worse." Moore said.

He also mentioned that there have been no reports about any team entering into form of talks with the Kings about the 26-year-old All-Star who has been appearing for the same time since 2010.

But for a team which has not made the playoffs in a decade now, trading Cousins could be the only way to show the world that it indeed is going for a change. But again, what the Kings get in return is also something that will keep the experts interested.
