Speculations are rife that the producers of "Criminal Minds" are mulling the possibility of bringing back Thomas Gibson to the show. There are those who believe this rumor is not far from becoming a reality considering that the 54-year-old actor has not been official dropped from the series.

In fact, unconfirmed reports have surfaced that the "Chicago Hope" star will play a part in the series' fifth episode. Titled Elliot's Pond, the said episode will feature the newly created Anti-terrorist Squad with Prentiss, Alvez, Rossi and JJ as its members.

To recall, The "Dharma and Greg" actor was fired from the show after he had an altercation with co-producer Virgil William, which turned physical. Based on the account of sources who witnessed the incident, the highly temperamental star allegedly kicked Williams on the leg although no injuries were reported.

But despite his propensity to become violent at times, "Criminal Minds" executives are reportedly bent on rehiring Thomas Gibson. With his convincing portrayal of the series' main protagonist Aaron Hotchner, he has earned the respect and admiration of fans who have been clamoring for his return, according to The Gamer's Drop

The Golden Globe Award nominee has been instrumental in the show's success since its pilot episode was aired in 2005. Since he was removed from the series, the crime procedural has experienced a significant decline in ratings, as fans started a protest in social media dubbed #NoHotchNoWatch.

According to the Inquistr, Thomas Gibson was fired from "Criminal Minds" not by its executives but allegedly by the HR department of ABC studios. The initial intention was supposedly not to terminate his services, but merely to suspend him, which apparently didn't work out as planned as he was eventually eased out from the show.

To this day, it is unclear who gave the short-tempered actor his walking papers. However, "Criminal Minds" fans are convinced that Thomas Gibson deserves another chance to display his acting prowess and prove to his critics that he deserves a spot on the show.
