NBA Trade Rumors: Are New York Knicks Going For Big Changes After A Not-So-Great Start?

By Shubham Ghosh | Update Date: Nov 10, 2016 07:50 AM EST

They had an ordinary beginning to the NBA 2016-17 season with three losses in the first four games although it was expected that things would go better for them this year. They brought point guard Derrick Rose and center Joakim Noah from the Chicago Bulls for this season and it was thought that the duo, coupled with spearheads Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis in the team, will see the Knicks improving on their last year's ranking of 13 in the Eastern Conference.

The new head coach, Jeff Hornacek, tried to force a fast offense game and playing off Rose's strengths in a pick-and-roll format but the Knicks' fortunes have not been that great although they bagged a much-needed victory against the Brooklyn Nets at their home Madison Square Garden on Wednesday (November 9) while the country rejoiced the election of the new American President from the same city.

As per Ian Begley of ESPN, Knicks' president Phil Jackson, a former player himself, is in favor of employing more triangle offense but his players, including Rose, might not feel the same.

"According to sources, some Knicks players have expressed their displeasure over the offense because they feel it doesn't suit their personnel, particularly point guard Derrick Rose, who has traditionally thrived when using pick-and-rolls," Begley said.

But the problem for the Knicks, currently ranked 10th in the conference with three wins and four losses, is not just about it. Barring the Nets who fell four points short, the Knicks have conceded over 100 points in all its other games, raising questions over its defense, said the Bleacher Report. It is because of these issues that ESPN's Marc Stein felt the Knicks will effect changes.

Too many changes so early in a season might not look great for the team but after seeing the trend, the authorities would make everything possible to buck it.

The Knicks will take on the Celtics and Raptors in two back-to-back away games on Friday (Nov 11) and Saturday (Nov 12). Will things look rosy for the Roses?
