NBA Trade Rumors: Is Anthony Davis Too Frustrated To Leave The Winless New Orleans Pelicans?

This happens when the team fails to pick itself up. New Orleans Pelicans' horrible start to the 2016-17 NBA season has reportedly left their power forward Anthony Davis frustrated and it is rumored that he could leave for the San Antonio Spurs if the Pelicans fail to turn around the tables soon.

The Pelicans have lost all five games in the new season and are languishing at the bottom of the Western Conference table. Spurs, on the other hand, are placed second after Oklahoma City Thunder with four wins and one loss.

Davis, on his part, has done consistently well in most of these matches but yet could not make a difference in the end which makes his frustration understandable. The 23-year-old player, who was 2012's first overall pick, expressed his displeasure with the team's performance after losing to Milwaukee Bucks 113-117 despite scoring 35 points himself. "Definitely frustrating," Davis said, "we can't get a win. It's frustrating," reported ESPN.

Before that, he scored 50 points in the Pelicans' first game against the Denver Nuggets and 45 against the Golden State Warriors but couldn't help his team win either of the two games. The three-time all-star player is actually just one of the four players in NBA history to have scored 50 points in an opening game, said isportsweb.com.

Davis's 148 points scored in the first four games also became a record as he became the highest-scoring player from a losing side (in all those games) in any NBA season, informed ESPN.

Davis was, however, not the only one frustrated in the Pelicans camp. Coach Alvin Gentry said he too was "frustrated" and needed to "find a solution" to the problem. He said he has been hired to do that job.

"I've got to find a solution to why we're turning the ball over. I've got to find a solution as to why we can't go into the game with a defensive plan and stick to it. It's very frustrating, yeah. But there have got to be solutions," the coach said, according to ESPN.

According to Sportsrageous, the Pelicans could trade Davis to the San Antonio Spurs for LaMarcus Aldridge who is also not very happy with his current team, if rumors are to be believed.

ESPN's Jackie MacMullan said in a TV talk a few days ago that the Spurs could trade Aldridge during the current season as the plan with him did not really take off after Kawhi Leonard rose to the occasion.

According to Sportsrageous, Aldridge could get the superstar treatment he wants in the Orleans while Davis could also see his potential getting a reward with the Spurs, a team which is far better placed to qualify for the playoffs.
