Game publisher Bandai Namco has announced a sequel to 2015's Dragon Ball Xenoverse, titled "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" will be rolled out on PS4, Xbox One, and PC sometime later this year.

"Your mission: protect the history of the Dragon Ball," the new trailer of the upcoming gaming title teases. "The Dragon Ball franchise is a crown jewel and a perennial fan-favorite of Bandai Namco Entertainment's robust anime video game portfolio and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will build upon that illustrious legacy," said Eric Hartness, Bandai Namco Entertainment America vice president of marketing, according to Tech Times.

The sequel is currently being developed at famed Osaka, Japan-based video game developer DIMPS.

"With Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, we're working diligently with the Dimps team to pull out all the stops and push the Dragon Ball video game experience to new heights," Hartness added, according to IDigitalTimes.

The publisher claims that "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" will feature the "largest and most detailed" Dragon Ball world that has ever been developed. The sequel offers a new hub city and the most character customization choices to date, as well as a number of new features and special upgrades.

It is expected that the sequel will feature old characters including Frieza and Trunks. There would be some nostalgic "go-back-to-the-past" episodes and a futuristic plot. More details and features of the upcoming game will be revealed at E3 2016 between June 14 and 16.

While an exact release date has not yet been announced, "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" is expected to get released later this year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. For those who want to get updates about the new game can sign up at DragonBallXenoverse2.com. You can watch the new trailer below.
