Marvel Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D Spoilers & Schedule: Who Will Die In The Finale?

The season 3 finale of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. finally revealed who would die and it was a heart-wrenching finale that will break lots of fans’ hearts.

The prophecy of someone dying was already in play a long time ago with Daisy/Skye (Chloe Bennett) knowing that someone from the team would kick the bucket. The only question that remained was who?

There was no hint on who would it be and it could have been anyone from Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), Leo Fitz (Ian De Caestecker), Al MacKenzie (Henry Simmons) or Lincoln Campbell (Luke Mitchell). As it turned out it was Lincoln who sacrificed himself and died in the quinjet explosion in what seems to be a rip from “Captain America: The First Avenger”.

The producers swear that this was not on purpose but it did seem like a sensible ending, a sacrifice made out of love. But Lincoln wasn’t the only one who died alone by also parasite-infected Grant Ward (Brett Dalton).

Lincoln’s death or sacrifice did make a bit of sense. He was the one torn between right and Daisy and to settle his true state, sacrificing himself for the sake of 'SHIELD' was a perfect way to define himself and prove his doubting teammate agents on where he really stood.

Until that point, it was not known who would die with the team playing a game of “hot potato” with Yo-Yo’s (Natalia Cordova-Buckley) necklace. Apparently the one who ended up with it would be the one to go and Daisy thought she had it. That was until Lincoln revealed that it was with him when he was already headed into space with Ward in tow.

The producers reiterated that Lincoln’s death was something associated with “Inhumans” having a purpose. Recall that “Lash” (Blair Underwood) saved Daisy from the clutches of “Hive” the last time out. Now it was “Lincoln” turn (or purpose) to do so.

Technically the original team is still intact so it will be interesting what season 4 holds. Some glimpses (six months later) were shown with Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Mac hot on the trail of Daisy.

There was also that scene which showed Holden Radcliffe (John Hannah) which seemed to show the creation of another individual (inhuman?) and mentioning the name of Fitz (his new colleague).

From the looks of it, Coulson will no longer be the director and if the wordings were right, a “general” (Talbot? (Adrian Pasdar)) is calling the shots.

Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will have more answered when season 4 opens shop in the Fall.
