Fasting has been considered as an effective way for losing weight. There are also several other tips in order to get the desired body shape. A new study revealed that intermittent fasting is an effective way to do so.
How Does It Work?
A recent small study revealed that intermittent fasting can be an effective diet. This small study has been published in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine. This kind of fasting would entail the person to routinely eat a small amount of food or no food at all.
This recent study suggested that there is no significant difference with intermittent fasting from the other methods of dieting, as reported by CNN. This kind of diet also is an alternative one from the calorie restriction diet.
There were 100 obese adults that were involved in this recent study. This has been conducted between 2011 and 2015. All these participants were assigned to three groups. One group is the intermittent diet, the second group will do the calorie restriction diet, and the last is the no diet at all group.
The members of the intermittent diet and the calorie restriction group were given food up until three months. After three months, they were left to do the diet on their own.
After a year, the members who were part of the intermittent diet lost 6% of their body weight. The calorie restricted members showed a weight loss of 5.7%.
The study then indicated that the intermittent diet had members who lost more weight than the calorie restricted ones. However, the intermittent diet does work for some people, according to CBS News. It actually depends on each person - on what healthy diet can be beneficial to their weight loss program.
Meanwhile, there is no perfect diet and the person has to know one's health before getting into one. The intermittent diet can be an alternative and there are those who might want to stick with his type of diet.
